Item 120 Dancing Ganesha Door

This solid old piece, from Kerala, is divided into a series of panels, all of which depicts the God Ganesha dancing. Ganesha, ‘The Remover of Obstacles’ is the elephant headed god of wisdom who is invoked at the beginning of all undertakings. Each panel is different, so it is an intriguing piece that continues to entertain as new poses are discovered. It is solid, blackened wood and the frame is intact. Stands 2,270mm high and 1,200mm wide.
