Dancing Ganesha Door
This solid old piece, from Kerala, is divided into a series of panels, all of which depicts the God Ganesha dancing. Ganesha, ‘The Remover of Obstacles’ is the elephant headed god of wisdom who is invoked at the beginning of all undertakings. Each panel is different, so it is an intriguing piece that continues to entertain as new poses are discovered. It is solid, blackened wood and the frame is intact. An alla is the spot inside the family home where families burn butter lamps to call down the Gods to the home for good things to come and used mostly at Diwali, the festival of light. The alla that follow are old, stone Rajasthani pieces, with lovely detail and stand about 30cm high.

Water Channels
On ancient Indian houses these water spouts were part of the roof drainage and guttering system. The water would be projected away from the building by the fountain-like spouts. Carved from solid stone, they are about half a metre in length and would make a unique and stunning water feature. |

Standing 3060mm high and 5840mm in length this temple entrance is made from superbly carved wood. Because it is an entrance, it is carved on both sides and has double pillars, so delights the eye both coming and going.
