Item 36 Chapati Tin

Chapatis are unleavened, flat bread to take up curry sauces and dahl; the metal tins keep the chapati warm. Chapati are on every Indian table at evening meal times. This is an especially large, quality tin so would have either belonged to a big, wealthy family, or, be a special occasion vessel for use at weddings and other celebrations. The detail and patina are quite beautiful. Stands 310mm high x 500mm diameter.
