JEWELLERY

All our jewellery is made with genuine old Indian silver pieces and semi precious, hand cut, Indian stones. For safety we use new fasteners, and some of the tiny silver beads are also new. The small, exclusive range is designed and made in Australia by Nick Hanlon, for Monsoon Trading.

Some of the pieces feature an ornamental barrel shaped object called a mandala. Mandala translates as “circle,” the symbol used in Hindu and Buddhist art to symbolise the universe. Traditionally, jewellery mandalas contain prayers which have been written down, rolled up and placed into the barrel, then worn around the neck. Solid silver pieces, like the old ones we find, are becoming increasingly rare.
